What is EVV?
Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) has been mandated by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The expected rollout date is September 3, 2024. This requirement is not unique to the State of Michigan. EVV was mandated federally as part of the 21st Century Cures Act in 2016.
Who must comply with EVV?
Anyone that is providing H2015 (CLS) or T1005 (Respite). There are limited exceptions, namely those that are live-in caregivers. Live-in caregivers that wish to be exempt must complete an application and be approved through the state. Our office does not have the authority to approve exemptions.
How to comply with EVV?
Stuart T. Wilson CPA, PC has partnered with HHAeXchange, Michigan’s contracted provider, to implement a smart phone application named EVVIE. The software is simple, free, works offline, and doesn’t take up a substantial amount of data on your device. There will also be an option to use a telephony system that collects the necessary data. This requires a landline in the home. It is recommended to avoid this route, if possible. Shifts submitted via landline have a more difficult clock in/out and approval process.
How to prepare for EVV?
Every participant (guardian or representative) and their staff must have a current email address on file. Please contact our office, as soon as possible, to ensure we have the correct information. Email is necessary to utilize the EVVIE mobile application and enroll in FMS One, the online portal to review and approve shifts.
